Flexible Survival

Post by Nuku » February 10th, 2011, 10:41 am

A new project! Flexible Survival. Set in another city besieged with the flexible infection, you will play the part of a man, or woman, who escaped into a bunker before it all went to hell. You have 30 days to survive, find survivors, fight monsters, try to avoid becoming a monster(maybe? Up to you). Get a score at the end depending on how well you did.

You can play it in your browser here: http://www.scworlds.net/FI/

It is extremely early alpha, as in I just got stat generation up and going and I'm working on examining yourself.(You can do that now)

Before it's asked, yes, I am inspired by a few flashes on here, like the one Fenoxo is making. I think flexible could stand to have a plot/purpose.

I do two comissions, and finally you move on to this project. x.x Is anyone from before going to get their creation bumped up into this game as well, just asking? Like maybe for a small extra fee? *falls over*

I like the premise though, the first game did kind of feel like a sandbox. Albeit one where people molested you but hey, to some folk that's the best type.

Your commission is part of the reason I'm moving on to bigger and better, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you, but yea, I will try to bump up critters from the original FI to this new FS, especially the paid ones.

I just updated it, with the tiny eency start of combat, rather, it can now pick a random critter(only one entered so far) and give you its desc.

Eventually there'll be tons of critters to do battle with.

PS: I started with the latex fox because it was the FIRST critter of the FIRST Flexible, before I even started coding it. It felt like tradition.

Cool stuff so far actually..How will combat work when fully implemented? Each hit has transform potential, Or the monster has to weaken you first?

Okay. ^.^ Well I'm glad I managed to contribute to you moving on to bigger stuff. I just realized I post more in your threads then anywhere else, I've never been so active in something like this. Do text games excite me? I suppose it would make sense if ya knew me.

Anyways, looking forward to this game, if there's any other way I can help, let me know.

A great question. I'm of two thoughts.

I was thinking the player of this one should be somewhat awesome. That is, he has some resistance to the nanites causing the issue, so he doesn't just go POOF into things as soon as he/she is hugged. So maybe you only change a little if you LOSE a fight.

OR

Let hits do it but make it very very low chance per hit, with a huge chance if you lose a fight.

Thoughts?

My thought is simple enough, Actually..If the character loses, They get a brief taunting/escape attempt, And then the creature fucks them, Giving X amount of infection..Instead of the nano tuner, You get nano 'Normalizer' pickups that allow you to remove a bit of infection, Like medkits.

Heh, rape is a possibility, but shouldn't be assumed, not every critter has sex on the noggin.

Just most of em!

Still, a way to recover, good idea. Shouldn't be too easy to get though or the challenge of remaining human goes down a lot.

Yeah, Its only present as possibility..Some can just eat you or otherwise end you instead of infection..

And they can be as rare as you like, A special item of sorts.Medkits can be more common, Attacks perhaps changing when at lower health values(If you implement such a system)

Hit points will definitely exist.

You can't call it an RPG without those!

And levels!

Looks good..Using a d&d system to help with attack rolls?

First thing that came to mind, seems to work.

It's d20 + mods vs 8 to score a hit.

Went with 8 over 10 because I'd prefer faster fights to whiff-a-thons.

UPDATE: The fox fights back now!

Theres a game called arkandian crusades that uses D&D damage models as well..Might be worth a brief gander, For mechanics ideas.
